Keri Valentine
West Virginia University

Dr. Keri Valentine is an Assistant Professor in Curriculum & Instruction at West Virginia University as well as an affiliate of the WVU Center for Excellence in STEM Education. She earned her Ph.D. at The University of Georgia in Learning, Design, and Technology in 2014. Dr. Valentine is an active AECT member, especially within the Design and Development Division. She served as an AECT Leadership Intern in 2013 and worked with fellow interns to implement the 2014 AECT Peer Connect Mentoring Project. The project supported AECT’s strategic plan to actively engage members within the organization by promoting opportunities for collaboration and networking. In addition, Dr. Valentine served as a D&D Board Associate from 2014 – 2015, giving her the opportunity to further develop leadership related to the division and assist board members on division activities. Her research focuses on designing learning environments and investigating complex learning process in both formal K-12 mathematics contexts as well as informal STEM learning environments. Recently, she redesigned mathematics education courses at WVU to support pre-service teachers’ understanding of computational thinking in the context of K-8 mathematics teaching and learning. Contributions include publications in Educational Technology and Mathematics Education journals as well as a recent book with fellow AECT member, Lucas Jensen, concerning the evolution of gaming and its impact on social, cultural, and political perspectives. Dr. Valentine looks forward to continuing her leadership as a Board Member of the D&D Division.
