Design and Development
President Elect

Craig Howard
The University of Tennessee Knoxville

I have been a member of AECT since 2006, and am probably best known in AECT circles for my editorial involvement with Tech Trends and the International Journal of Designs for Learning, where I am now an advisory board member and have served as a guest editor, reviewer, reviewer coach, web manager, and assistant editor in the past. I am still a very active reviewer for both publication venues. AECT has provided me with a number of great opportunities, and I feel it is time to start putting efforts into more leadership roles. I was privileged to be part of the NSF Early Career Symposium in 2012, and was a conference volunteer for four years during my doctoral study.

I earned my Ph.D. in Instructional Systems Technology at Indiana University Bloomington (IUB) in 2012. I am currently an Assistant Professor in the Department of Educational Psychology and Counseling at the University of Tennessee Knoxville, where I teach in the residential PhD program and online in the MS in IT program. I research how instructional designs impact pedagogical communication, and how instructional designs are studied via design cases. This research is very applied and in synch with the focus of D&D. Thank you for your consideration, and I think it would be an honor to work with everybody in D&D in a new AECT role for me.
