Nicole Wang
Pennsylvania State University

Nicole Wang is a Ph.D. candidate in Learning, Design, and Technology, and Comparative International Education at the College of Education, Pennsylvania State University (PSU). She holds a master’s degree at the University of Pennsylvania.

Ms. Wang’s primary research interest is Massive Online Open Courses (MOOCs). The research projects she has been working on have looked at MOOCs from the perspective of completion, enrollment, engagement, cultural elements, and factors related to international development. She is currently a principal investigator on a research project funded by the Penn State Center for Online Innovation in Learning. In addition to research related to online teaching and learning, she has been involved with research on digital badges, EEG studies, neuropsychological assessment, and assessment on makerspace education.

Wang also has done research in different capacities. She helped analyze potential impacts of the White House scorecard system on students from diverse backgrounds; management structure at U.K. legal firms and U.S Hedge Funds at the Wharton Business School; and Chinese phonetic structure at the Linguistics Department, School of Arts and Sciences.

Wang’s personal background is related to East Asia, as she grew up in China and Japan. She loves to meet with people from all over the world.
