Systems Thinking & Change
President Elect

Suha Tamim
University of South Carolina

I am Suha R. Tamim. I am a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Curriculum Studies program in the department of Instruction and Teacher Education at the University of South Carolina. Additionally, I act as the co-book editor for the Interdisciplinary Journal of Problem-based Learning.  Previously, I taught at the University of Memphis in the Instructional Design and Technology program and at the American University of Beirut in the Faculty of Health Sciences. I also worked as an instructional design consultant for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and for Crew Training International in Memphis, TN.

I joined AECT as a graduate student in 2009, attended every conference ever since and I continue to be actively involved in AECT as higher education faculty and occasional instructional design consultant. I peer review proposals and facilitate sessions for several divisions for the yearly conferences. I served/serve on the award committees for the divisions of Distance Learning and Systems Thinking and Change (STC). Currently, I serve on the STC board as the communication officer and I am a member of the AECT Communication Officers Task Force.

My interest in systems thinking and change crystallized when I joined STC and participated in the design of microlearning objects that are to be used to inform AECT members about the concepts underlying systems thinking. My understanding of these concepts developed even further through my teaching on organizational change and leadership. As such, my passion for STC’s mission is solidifying and I hope to join efforts with board members and STC members at large to map out plans to achieve the strategic goals, advance the mission, and promote the work of the division.
