Serdar Abaci
Indiana University

Serdar Abaci is a postdoctoral researcher at Learning Technologies division of the University Information Technology Services at Indiana University. He holds a PhD degree in Instructional Systems Technology (IST) from Indiana University (IU), where he also received a Master’s degree in Learning and Developmental Sciences in Inquiry track.
Dr. Abaci currently conducts research that involves the examination of big data from digital learning environments to understand student learning and engagement. His research interests include integration of teaching and learning technologies in higher education, learning analytics, feedback, online learning, and program evaluation. His work (individually and collaboratively) culminated in many conference presentations and peer-reviewed publications in the journals including Educause Review, TechTrends, and the Journal of Computing in Higher Education.
Dr. Serdar Abaci has involved in several service and leadership activities throughout his career. At Indiana University, he served as president of Turkish Student Association, as well as committees in the Graduate Studies Office at the School of Education. He served in the organizing committee of the Annual IST Conference for multiple years. In addition he has been a reviewer of conference proposals for the AECT, AERA, and IST conferences. Lastly, Dr. Abaci currently serves as a manuscript reviewer for the British Journal of Educational Technology, the Journal of Computing in Higher Education, Educause Review, and Research in Learning Technologies journal.
Dr. Abaci has been a member of the AECT since 2009, when he started his doctoral degree at IU. He was a participant of the 2012 NSF/AECT Early Career Research Symposium. He was also the recipient of the 2013 Dean and Sybil McClusky Dissertation Research Award, granted by the Research and Technology Division of AECT.
