Haihong Hu

Haihong (Helen) Hu joined the University of Central Arkansas as an Assistant Professor in August 2011.  She earned her PhD in Instructional Systems, with an emphasis in Instructional Technology Theory and Practice, Distance Education, Media Design and Development, and Technology Integration in education and business, from Florida State University in 2007.  Before joining UCA, Helen was a visiting assistant professor in Educational Technology at the University of North Florida. Helen’s research interests are in Instructional Systems, with an emphasis on Distance Education, Media Design and Development, and Technology Integration.  

In recent years, Helen has published 7 peer- reviewed journal articles, 2 book chapters and 13 referred conference proceedings papers. She has also presented at fourteen International/National, 4 Regional and 10 State conferences.  Helen has been awarded two “No Child Left Behind” grants (a total of $214,018) through the Arkansas Department of Higher Education and Arkansas Department of Education. She serves on various committees on the department, college, or university level at her institutions and in the state of Arkansas, and volunteers at AECT, AERA, and SITE organizations to be a reviewer, session chair, or poster judge. And, she is a reviewer for the Journal of Educational Technology and Society, the (Merlot) Journal of Online Learning and Teaching, and the Journal of Online Learning Research.

AECT has always been a home professional organization for Helen. When she was a graduate student, she started presenting at AECT since 2001, and received the AECT Conference Cochran Internship in Anaheim CA. in October, 2003. In 2011, Helen was awarded an opportunity to attend the AECT Early Career Symposium sponsored by the National Science Foundation. She also served as a Review Board member and reviewer for the AECT-LKAOE 2015 Summer International Research Symposium. Helen would like to give back to the organization through her service in the division.
