I am a lecturer in the Technical Communication Department at the University of North Texas and was a faculty mentor for Designers for Learning. I have a Ph.D. in Instructional Systems from Florida State University and a Master’s degree in Instructional Technology from Virginia Tech. I also have 15+ years of industry experience as an instructional designer/developer, technical writer, and usability consultant.
I have been an active member of AECT for the past 6 years and am currently serving as a Cochran Leadership Intern. I have served DDL as a proposal reviewer and a conference facilitator. This past year, I also served as Awards Coordinator for the DDL Best Practice Award.
I have held leadership positions within GSA and D&D. I was elected as the GSA Representative to the D&D division (2013-2014) and served as a D&D Board Associate (2014-2015). While serving as the GSA Representative, I created a biannual e-newsletter to recognize students for their accomplishments. Moreover, I facilitated webinars and coordinated the GSA/D&D Night On the Town event at the 2013 convention in Anaheim. In my role as a D&D Board Associate, I lead the D&D Newsletter Initiative by creating a member survey to determine how to best serve the D&D members through various communication channels. I presented the results from the member survey at Summer Leadership in 2015. These results were instrumental in the creation of a D&D Facebook group.
