Russell Michalak
Goldey-Beacom College

Russell Michalak joined Goldey-Beacom College (GBC) in 2010.  As Director of Library & Learning Center/Assistant Professor, he oversees the annual budget, supervises and hires librarians, tutors, paraprofessionals, and manages the delivery of research, information, and instructional services as well as the operations of the tutoring center.

Recently, he co-authored an article “Information literacy 2015: International graduate business students' perceptions of information literacy skills compared to test assessed skills” in the Journal of Business & Finance Librarianship.  He also co-presented his findings at the AECT annual conference, Learning from Vegas, in 2016.

Before coming to GBC, he worked at the Libraries of the Claremont Colleges (Claremont, California) in Special Collections as the Western Americana Manuscripts Librarian. Previously, he served as a Reference and Electronic Resources Librarian at Duke University’s Bostock and Perkins Library. Russell received his MA in Library and Information Studies from the University of Wisconsin, Madison and a BA in History from Occidental College, Los Angeles, California.

As one of the co-designers of a series of information literacy modules that won the Emerging Technologies 2016 Immersive Learning Linear category, Russell is looking forward to assisting the division in the future and appreciates the opportunity to potentially contribute as a member of the division leadership.
