Renee Jordan
Georgia State University

Renée Jordan is a third-year Instructional Technology Ph.D. Student in the Learning Technologies Division of the College of Education and Human Development at Georgia State University. She continues to refine her skills through her academic studies and professional experiences. Renée earned a Bachelor of Arts in Biology, Master of Education, and Master of Public Policy. She also taught high school Biology for seven years and maintained state teaching certifications for Maryland and Georgia. As an educator, she also trained her fellow teachers on the use and integration of technology. She continued along this path at Morehouse College where she served as the Instructional Technology Coordinator for three years.

Her research interests are driven by a curiosity in the assets students bring with them to class and the desire to learn more about how to integrate student knowledge, skills, and interests into learning environments. Consequently, some of her research interests include Instructional Design Frameworks, Culture Specific Design, Digital and Online Media, and Multimodal Analysis.
Since the second semester of her program, Renée worked with her advisor as a Graduate Research assistant. During her first year in this position, she assisted with the design and development of the AMAYS (Acquainting Metro Atlanta Youth with STEM) curriculum administered through the program's custom Content Management System. Over the past year and a half, she served as one of the program facilitators responsible for training staff, overseeing the program at one of the nine sites, collecting and analyzing qualitative data, and presenting findings to the research team to inform program redesign.

This year, Renee reviewed proposals, and she presented her work during the AECT Annual Meeting. Moving forward, she hopes to become more involved in what happens between meetings by serving in a leadership position.
