School Media & Technology
Member at Large

Jennifer Emberton

It would be an honor to serve as the Member-at-Large for the School Media and Technology Board. I joined AECT as a doctoral student and am eager to become more involved. I’m currently serving as the GSA Representative to the SMT Board. My goal is to continue serving AECT through the School Media & Technology division with the goal of improving practitioner’s technology integration. To this end, my goal is to provide leadership by finding creative ways to build bridges between research in SMT and K-12 schools.

Currently, I work as a sixth grade teacher in Kentucky; assisting and sponsoring several clubs that include: a Student Technology Leadership Program (STLP), student helpdesk, student public service announcement team, Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) and a student news team. I earned both my bachelor of science in middle grades education and Master of Science in library media education from Western Kentucky University. Additionally, I have an instructional computer technology endorsement from Western. I’m currently pursuing my doctorate in Educational Technology Leadership from Morehead State University. My research interests include: blended learning in the library, boundaryless organizations using Google, servant leadership, student voice, and pre-service teacher training with trending technology. Moreover, one of my passions is seeing students have a voice in their schools. I have presented at several regional and state conferences with this focus. My main topics include: blended learning, Google in the K12 classroom, Twitter for professional development, and student lead projects.

I humbly ask for your vote, and I welcome the opportunity to continue sharing my passions, ideas, and enthusiasm will benefit SMT.
